Abstract:
This data set contains polygons delineating the areas covered during each day of acquisition of images in Montana for the 2005 National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). These boundary lines can be used as a tool in determining the image source and date of each portion of the 2005 NAIP. The boundary lines are based on 3.75-minute Digital Orthophoto Quarter-Quadrangle (DOQQ) boundaries. The lines separating each DOQQ may be the actual seam line location or an approximation. This is because the various vendors acquiring and processing the data use different algorithms to create the DOQQ. Since the seam line may be an approximation, portions of the CCM along the boundary may actually come from the imagery on the other side of the seam line. The photos themselves are available at http://geoinfo.msl.mt.gov/data/Aerial_Photos/NAIP_2005.

Attribute accuracy report:
All data have been reviewed for correct application of attributes and are accurate to current conditions.

Source information:
Originator: USDA-Farm Services Agency Aerial Photography Field Office
Publication date: 02/01/2006
Title: Index of source acquisition dates.
Source scale denominator: 7920
Source contribution: Collection date of source image data.
Calendar date: 2005

Process step:
This ESRI shape file was created using ArcMap 9.0. The attribute data was collected during the contracting and inspection process and stored in Oracle database tables. This data was extracted from the Oracle database and joined to a national data set of quarter quadrangle polygons using the south east corner coordinate as the primary join key. An automated process was used to select the quarter quadrangles that cover each county from the national data set and then exported with the desired attributes to create this shape file data set.
Process date: 02/01/2006
Process step:
The date index shapefiles provided by the Aerial Photography Field Office for each Montana county were combined into a single shapefile and the ESRI "Dissolve" command was used to remove boundary lines between quarter-quadrangles that had the same acquisition date.
